Randall's Rangers was a mercenary fleet owned by a man named Randall. Commander Cavilo took over the fleet by means of killing Randall. The only known contract given to Randall's Ranges came when they were hired by Vervain to protect the Vervani people from other groups in the Hegen Hub. As it turned out, Cavilo sold the Vervani out to the Cetagandans. Since this detail was not known to most of the Rangers, they were willing to take orders from the Vervani people when the Cetagandans invaded. A fair amount of the fleet was destroyed during the war; also, it was expected that some of the captains might not choose to follow Cavilo after those events.
