Space worms were a type of worm that lived in space. After capturing an X-wing starfighter piloted by the astromech droid R2-D2 and noticing that there was no pilot in the ship, a stormtrooper speculated that the pilot had fled from the ship and was floating through the Monsua Nebula whilst being eaten by space worms.
