A Survival Duel is a type of Duel used by Duel Academy's instructor Sanders as a final test for his students to become full-fledged Duel soldiers. It involves pitting five of his elite students, Ted, Ethan, Bernie, Jacob and Emma, against five Lancers (and unbeknownst to all, the Battle Beast) in the Field Spell "Predator Jungle" in a Free-For-All fight that will end with only one Duelist emerging victorious and alive, with everyone else being turned into cards, via the Human Sealing Technology.
