Crates exist everywhere in the Alimbic Cluster except for the Oubliette. These crates are unremarkable compared to more elaborate forms of storage container Samus encounters, such as Bladepods or Torvus Hanging Pods. They are, however, quite durable: it takes a full seven uncharged shots to destroy them, but four and one Charge Shot can also destroy them. These crates are grey boxes with darker grey rectangles on each side.
