The 1953-31 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at Central City Speedway on September 13, 1953. Speedy Thompson led just twenty-four laps, but it was enough for his first career victory as Thompson held off Lee Petty for the win. Eventual season champion Herb Thomas finished 6th. Stats
