What's important to remember is that while dogs have many unique physiological aspects to their chemistry, they also have many that are similar to humans. And the subject of *yeast* happens to be one of those. Candida albicans (a common yeast) is opportunistic in both dogs and humans. What this means is that it's naturally present in the body, but is kept in check by the body's pH level, healthy bacteria residing inside the intestinal tract, a healthy diet and the body's immune system. When the body is out-of-balance, the yeast spores are allowed to multiple in larger numbers and create a condition known as Candidiasis (commonly called a yeast infection). This, in turn, causes a host of many unwanted symptoms.
