The Model 60 Machine Gun was a UNSC heavy machine Gun, developed post-Human Covenant War. One of two UNSC machine guns using the 12.7x99mm calibre, the Model 60 focused mainly on portability, allowing infantry teams to carry the weapon, quickly set it up in a fixed position and provide heavy supporting fire. This was in contrast to the M247 Heavy Machine Gun, which was designed more for use mounted to vehicles. Although firing the weapon required it to be set down somewhere (recoil made firing from a soldier's arms impossible) it was relatively lightweight and could be carried without too much difficulty by a soldier. The Model 60 was a deadly weapon as a result of its large calibre round, which had far increased stopping power, muzzle velocity and range over smaller calibre rifle rounds s
