Nodeways are an intergalactic equivalent to a conventional highway. Artificially cleared of debris, nodeways provide a clear path between various points of the Empire, allowing for travel at maximum speeds with minimal risk of collisions. Encased in a repulsive plasma shield and controlled by nodeway stations, ships are programmed to fly through the field automatically for a small fee, although in many areas to not use a nodeway station is a criminal offence.
