A covariant oscillator was a piece of technology found aboard Starfleet Danube-class runabouts. When Kira Nerys (in reality the Female Changeling assuming her appearance) was trapped by a crystalline structure, Odo created a makeshift ultrasonic generator using the covariant oscillator from the USS Mekong.
