After continued skirmishes between the Goa'uld and the Tau'ri which had started the year earlier in 1997, Apophis and his son Klorel took two Ha'taks in a campaign to conquer Earth but thanks to the efforts of Stargate Command's flagship team, SG-1, Apophis's attempts at conquering Earth and enslaving the Tau'ri ultimately failed, resulting in the Tau'ri gaining a huge victory over the Goa'uld.
