The concept of a near-future cop was created by John Wagner, though following some concept sketches by Carlos Ezquerra this was shunted forward about a century. The name came from an occult strip that Pat Mills had been developing. The character had been shown in an advert in Prog 1 and another advert prior to the comic's launch which featured in Battle in February 1977
