Johannes II, Emperor of the Danes, King of Germany and Lombardy, Lord-Protector of Rome (1030 - 1088) was the second Emperor of the Danes, inheriting his father's title of Danske Kjiesaare. Johannes II was coronated at the imperial capital of Askevik in 1070 following his father's death and ruled the Johannine Empire for eighteen years, in that time conquering much of the old Frankish kingdom. Unlike his father, whose conquests were based on incorporating existing principalities into his realm, Johannes II waged violent warfare to expand the size of his realm, including against fellow Nordics as he expanded into Scandinavia and the British Islands, captuing most of the Danelaw, where he died of a fever while on a campaign in 1088. He was interred at Askevik along with his father.
