The offhand slot is more flexible than its counterpart, the Mainhand slot. One can equip a shield such as the Rune kiteshield for defense, or a defender such as the Dragon defender for additional attack bonuses. However, the offhand slot is not always available. When a two-handed weapon is equipped, the offhand slot becomes unavailable. If a player were to equip an offhand item while equipping a two-handed item, the two-handed item would be unequipped and moved to the player's inventory, the offhand item now equipped.
