Ryan Hunter Reay is an American racing driver from Boca Raton, Florida. He currently drives the #28 Sun Drop / DHL car for Andretti Autosport. Hunter Reay's first season in the IndyCar Series was 2007, when he replaced Jeff Simmons in the #17 car for Rahal Letterman Racing prior to a race at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. Prior to that, he had competed in CART and Champcar. In the six races he competed in 2007, he scored three top tens and secured rookie of the year. He won his first race the following year at Watkins Glen after passing Darren Manning on a late race restart. In 2009, Rahal Letterman withdrew their team and left Hunter Reay with no ride.
