Newbie Guard is an unnamed mercenary guard in celldecks area on Dark Athena. Since he was new in the merc business he was a bit more caring than others. He suggested that Ellen Silverman should cook, since they haven't gotten a good meal for a long time. Marc however told him to treat the prisoners as cattle. Newbie tried to justify himself, but Marc just told him to shut up. After overhearing Marc and Denam talk about entertainment, Newbie mentioned that he knows a good redlight club in civilized systems. Marc then mocked him for needing to pay for women, and Denam laughed.
