The 2008 Dollar General 300 was a Nationwide Series event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on October 10, 2008. Kyle Busch won his 9th series race of the year and closed in on Sam Ard's record of ten wins in a season (this despite racing part-time), leading 137 of the 200 laps and cruising to victory over Jeff Burton. Brian Vickers was 3rd after crashing in qualifying and having to start last in an unpracticed racecar. Points leader Clint Bowyer was 4th and with just four races remaining held a nearly insurmountable 196-point championship lead on Carl Edwards (5th).
