The Marquis Theatre is a Broadway theater located on the third floor of the Marriott Marquis hotel at 1535 Broadway in midtown Manhattan. It was designed by architect John C. Portman, Jr. and has a seating capacity of 1590. The Marquis - with state-of-the-art backstage facilities and a sleekly modern auditorium - opened on July 9, 1986 with a series of concerts by Shirley Bassey.
