In 2370, the Steel Bird was under the command of T'alar. The vessel was assigned to the planet, The Abyss, as a part of a secret Romulan base on the planet. The vessel destroyed the IKS K'Tang in orbit of the planet. The vessel's crew placed a Cardassian distress buoy in order to blame the Cardassians. The vessel went after the USS Orinoco after the runabout's crew discovered the Romulan base. The vessel followed the Orinoco through the Bajoran wormhole. The vessel was destroyed by the Klingon fleet near the station. (DS9 comic: "Hearts and Minds")
