Marija Magdalena was the Croatian entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 in Jerusalem performed by Doris Dragović. It was her second attempt at the contest, having previously represented the former Yugoslavia in 1986. On the night of the Contest, it performed fourth following Spain and preceding the United Kingdom. At the close of voting, it finished in 4th place with 118 points. It lost a third of its total points due to electronic vocals in the backing track, which is a violation of the contest's rules as all vocals (lead and backing) must be sung live on stage.
