The Directorate General Information Society and Media (DG INFSO) is one of 25 Directorate Generals of the European Commission, established by a merger of the DG INFOSOC (Information Society) and the DG Culture Media Directorate of DG Culture in 2004. From July 1, 2012, the name of the DG will become Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) (internally also DG CNECT).
