The 1961 Daytona 500 Qualifier #1 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at Daytona International Speedway on February 24, 1961. Fireball Roberts dominated the race, leading 25 of the 39 laps before a crash ended the event early giving him the victory. Eventual 1961 champ Ned Jarrett finished 5th.
