Ellen Pompeo (b. 1969) is an American actress best known for playing Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy. Other television credits include appearances on Law & Order, Friends, and Strangers with Candy (with Amy Sedaris). Pompeo appeared with Elmo to present "healthy" as The Word of the Day for the 41st season of Sesame Street.
