WMXA-TV is a commercial-free television station licensed to and located in Memphis, Tennessee, broadcasting on channel 28 which begins broadcasting in 1970. It is owned by KIVO Television Group with studios at the street-level WMXA Broadcast Center in downtown Memphis. Originally the station was a independent station until 1992, and it also was a PrimeStar affiliate until early-October 1997 of which WMXA becomes affiliated with DirecTV and USSB which is also seen on former indie station WJJX-TV in Jackson, Mississippi since 1994 while PrimeStar moves to WWMY-TV (which is now affiliated with MyTV).
