René Pouillard was a French pilot who was stationed in Lebanon. In 1938, he ferried Indiana Jones from Tripoli to Delhi, India. In Delhi, he discovered that his plane held a young stowaway, Khamal in the unheated luggage compartment. Pouillard kept watch over the boy while Jones tried to find a police officer to detain Khamal. While on the ground, he frequently smoked.
