Passing The Torch is an insert set in 2001 Donruss Elite. The 24 card base set features current and retired baseball greats. The cards that feature a single player were serial numbered to 1000 and the dual player cards were serial numbered to 500 copies. The cards were randomly inserted into packs. 22 of the 24 cards were supposed paralleled with an autographed card. Only Wade Boggs, Nolan Ryan and Stan Musial returned their cards in time. The rest were packed out as exchange cards redeemable until May 1, 2003.
