A haystack boulder is a glacial erratic. They are stones carried by a glacier. A giant pink boulder was a local landmark east and south of Daventry town along the east road on the southern side of the road. It was a stone that looked like a dog's head. The rock was strange and out of place, there were no other pink rocks around Daventry. There are outcrops of pink granite located about six hundred miles north of Daventry. There is no doubt that the stone was carried from there. Perhaps part of the Westering Mountains.
