Summoning familiars are creatures that players may summon in order to help them with various tasks. They are summoned by consuming a pouch of the familiar you wish to summon. Combat experience is awarded for damage dealt to monsters, as it is for the player. The skills that benefit are those selected in Combat Settings under the Powers menu. For example, the iron titan can use magic and melee attacks. If Attack is chosen for melee experience, its melee attacks will grant Attack and Constitution experience; if Magic and Defence are chosen for magic, its magic attacks will grant Magic, Defence and Constitution experience.
