After Origin (abbreviated AO) is a unit of time by which years are measured. It begins with 0 AO, the approximate time of the origin of Humans on Borendil. It is one of two units of time used to measure years. BO is the other unit, and is used to refer to the periods of time before Humans existed on the planet. All events in Elven history are recorded in BO.
