Pine-Nuts or pine-kernels were edible nuts found in the Deepwoods. To get them, one had to break open the green pinecones of an ironwood pine. According to Quint, the pine-kernels tasted like "tilder sausages flavoured with orange-grass and nibblick" and were meaty spicy and succulent.
