An Enfant is a Wraith who has just crossed the Shroud (i.e., died). Enfants are "born" with a covering called a caul; the caul prevents them from harming themselves or others immediately after crossing the shroud - wraiths covered with it are passive and unable to perceive or interact much with the world around them. An Enfant remains passive until the caul is removed by a Reaper.
