The current flag was adopted in 1984 and was designed by Martin Scotch. People chose a new flag to distinguish themselves more from the People's Republic of Catharinia and the Kingdom of Catharinia, that both use the same colours: green and dark yellow. Therefor, the fly pale is colored red, symbolising the British roots. The central field is charged with the Seal of Arcadia, that consists of a yellow dotted border, symbolising the nation's wealth, a green and a red half, referring to the flag, and a yellow core in which a coat of arms and the text Res Publica Democratic Arcadia stand. The coat of arms features the Union Jack, a colonial scene and an anchor and torch, represening each the trade over sea and the freedom of the people.
