This monument was built to commemorate the victory of the united Gungan and Human people of Naboo against the Trade Federation armies in 32 BBY. After the advent of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY, the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure sought to replace the banned podraces with deadly demolition derbies. One of those brutal contest took place on Naboo, using this monument as an arena.
