HMS Superb was the ship on which William Bush was serving when he received his lieutenant's commission in July 1796. Horatio Hornblower once had an encounter with Tom Jenkins, a ferryman who had been a topman on the Superb, under Captain Keates. While there have been 11 different Superb's in the Royal Navy, none were in use in 1796.
