Maria Laqua (12 February 1889 – 9 February 2002) was a German supercentenarian and is the oldest person ever to die in Germany, but not the oldest to be born there, since Charlotte Benkner (16 November 1889 – 14 May 2004) and Adelheid Kirschbaum (29 September 1883 – 21 December 1996) were also born there. Both Benkner and Kirschbaum died in the United States. The record for the oldest person who died in Germany before Maria Laqua was Paula Marie Baumgärtner. Laqua was born in Odenkirchen and died in Bad Hönningen.
