The Republican Guard (Selucian: Custodes Rei Publicae) is a special military unit initially formed by Dictator Caius Cassius Sophus as the Dictatorial Guard, tasked with protecting his person and the Republic. The Guard was reformed in 3848 by Dictatrix Octavia Flavia Hadriana as the Republican Guard, expanding its functions into protecting all higher magistrates and the Senate. The unit is mostly made up of elite members of the Praetorian Legions in the Selucian Army, as well as former members of the Patrician Militia, a paramilitary group aligned with the Union of Capitalists and Patricians.
