This kind old man is Liu Kang's Grandfather and a member of the Order of Light. He appears in the first Mortal Kombat movie. He informs his grandson Liu Kang of his brother Chan's death. He's apparently Liu's only living relative other than his brother. He likely raised them after their parents' death. He fears for his grandson's life since he isn't ready, but Raiden tells him he's their only hope.
