Avenal VII was the seventh planet in the Avenal system, deep in Cardassian-controlled space during the Dominion War. During the war, Klingon Chancellor Gowron ordered General Martok and eleven or more Klingon ships to attack Avenal VII, but Dominion forces outnumbered the Klingons by six-to-one, leading to a Klingon defeat. Five or more Klingon ships, including the IKS Rotarran, escaped severely damaged. (DS9: "Tacking Into the Wind")
