The unnamed Barman served at The Pink Flamingo nightclub in Patricroft where Vera Duckworth insisted on going with Ivy Tilsley in September 1987. Ivy had a miserable time, being propositioned by a drunken punter and left early. The barman noticed this and told Vera that her friend had only been cramping her style and bought her a large gin and tonic. Thoroughly annoyed that Jack had refused to celebrate her birthday, Vera happily agreed to go on with the barman afterwards when his shift finished for "a giggle". The next day, she attended Alec Gilroy and Bet Lynch's wedding with a huge hangover.
