Slashing the deck was a technique used by both the Republic Navy and the Sith fleet in the New Sith Wars. In it, attack ships would move along a vector that allowed them minimal fire from an enemy ship's weapons, then double back and return fire again. It was dangerous if the enemy ship could call upon support of starfighters or other capital ships.
