Todaro went to art school in Rome in 1960 and joined the comic industry four years later, working for Co.F.Edit. In the late 1960s, he met Alberto Giolitti and began to draw FBI, Lasso, and Buffalo Bill. During this time, he also inked at least two issues of Giolitti's work on the Star Trek series for Gold Key Comics.
