The Battle of Ilum in the Galactic War was a minor space confrontation over Ilum. De facto Admiral Rath of the Rath Dominion was ordered by Grand Admiral Thrawn to take a small group to Ilum and meet with the Zann Consortium to exchange valuable information under the threat that the Grand Admiral would conquer Kuat if Rath did not obey his commands. Rath commanded a pair of Victory II-class Star Destroyers - the Thunderstrike and the Red Tide, to the Zann Consortium asteroid base in Ilum orbit. Thrawn also had backup - two more Victory II-class Star Destroyers, the Infester and the Stormwind, a tenth of a light-year away from the system, so that they could easily hyperspace into the system in the event that the Zann Consortium betrayed the Empire.
