Kurama Kaito (海藤・蔵馬, Kaitō Kurama) is a Shinigami who currently serves in the Gotei 13 as the Lieutenant of the 9th Division. Hailing from Rukongai, he became friends with a young boy by the name of Kenshin, and when Kenshin's uncle ultimately tacked him down, Kurama was also found to be spiritually aware and was enrolled in the Shinō Academy along with Kenshin. After graduating he joined the Gotei 13, first joining the 3rd Division along with Kenshin before being asked to occupy the position of the 9th division Lieutenant.
