Google Penguin is a project developed by Google to downrank sites that create a bad expirience for users, or are spam. The latest version of Penguin is 3. Curiously enough, when launched, the project was nameless, and it wasn't until 2 days later that it was codenamed Penguin. It is the successor of Google Panda, which was used for a similar purpose.
