Tanner was elected to the Baltusian Senate in the June 2651 elections. Following the death of Trinity Throckmorton, Tanner was elected Leader of the Baltusian Labour Party by 1% over Julieta Cartwright. Kristian Tanner named Cartwright as his Deputy Leader. On February 1, 2679, Kristian Tanner was elected Praetor. He claimed nearly 80 million votes and won 72.29% of the vote. He also helped the Labour Party gain twenty seats in the Senate. The 2679 elections were the most successful since the December 2640 elections. The party also won the Lindar Valley and Athosia governorships.
