Seth Zheng was a proficient Jedi Knight during the Old Republic era. He trained under Dack Cotaar, who was a Jedi Master at the time. Zheng was a very stubborn pupil, and always believed that he was ready for anything. Such stubbornness brought on arrogance, and Seth thought that he was immune to any punishment.
