The game designers appended the name as "Valiant III" in the book, even though there are conflicting sources both in the FASA games and licensed Star Trek in general pointing to more (or less) Valiants having been in Starfleet service up to that point. While the ship was listed as active in the game book set in 2364, it should probably be considered to be taken out of service by the time the Oberth-class USS Valiant is referenced in another source.
