Despite the RG name, the RG50 has the rounded-edge body style and swoopy, rounded headstock of the older Roadstar body. It is one of only a small number of RG models with a humbucker/ single/ single pickup configuration. It has a tone chamber routed out of the body beneath the pickguard. The RG52 is a similar model with dual humbucking pickups. The RG53 is also similar but has three single-coils. The RG50 was offered only in Japan and was discontinued after 1986.
