Qrow was raised alongside his twin sister, Raven Branwen, in a bandit tribe outside the Kingdoms. However, Qrow would leave the tribe later in life, seeing them as "murderers and thieves". Raven saw his desertion as betrayal, straining their relationship. Qrow and Raven enrolled in Beacon Academy at some point in their youth, and would later form Team STRQ, along with the other initiates, Summer Rose and Taiyang Xiao Long.
