The neural-intercept grenade was a "techno-mystical hybrid" weapon designed by Wolfram & Hart's Practical Science Division under Knox and Winifred Burkle. Angel took it out with him in the field while going to confront the Thraxis Demon, but due to a faulty trigger mechanism, it failed to work, forcing Angel to kill the Thraxis with his bare hands.
