Captain John Robertson US Navy (Ret) is an old friend of Hive. He was the captian of a Fast Attack Submarine, and when they would swap "war" stories, Captain Robertson would tell Admiral Everhart about the use of the sonar in tracking enemy submarines. This inspires Hive to have Blue "borrow" a copy of the sound processing software from the US Navy.
